This was a great read Bethany! I never knew Tinkercad was a free website which is awesome because it offers so much into the understanding of 3D shapes and design-thinking. This indeed would be very engaging for students. I do agree with you that teachers would need to be explicit with their teaching and instructions as it includes measurement and size. However, it would be a nice activity for students to broaden their imagination and create their own designs.

This was a very interesting post, I enjoyed reading about the link between computational thinking and Lego Robotics. I can say from my experience of using Lego Robotics with Years 1-2, it is a very engaging and hands on use of computers and Lego. The number of things they can create is endless and really does encourage the use of creativity with students. I agree that Lego robotics is a good tool to build students problem solving skills, a critical skill needed in the 21st century classroom.

This was a very interesting blog post about Dot and Dash! I had always heard of them but never saw them in action. They seem like a very engaging way to explore certain concepts and early programming skills. I do agree with you that this would better suit Stage 1 as it uses simple instructions which could be not as challenging for older stages. This would also encourage collaboration among students!

I loved playing around with the Bee-bots in the tutorial and personally can’t wait to use this in my own classroom. The video and pictures really paint an insightful way Bee-bots can be used within a lesson. I do agree with you when you say that this would be an excellent resource for Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 as it helps them understand some basic concepts with a hands-on approach. Furthermore, I also really liked your idea to foster their creativity and engage them further. Having them design a maze not only engages the student but also their peers who test it out. You could even have them have a race in groups to reach a certain destination!

The idea of 3D printing is just amazing! It really shows how far technology has come and the different ways we can implement it in the classroom. It allows students to use their imagination and think outside the box when creating new models with the 3D printer. I do agree with you that it would be easy for students to get off task but as you mentioned, teachers will have to give explicit instructions and set expectations at the beginning of the lesson. That was an interesting video you added that gave a good understanding of 3D printing and how it can be used. 3D printing allows students to build their Design Based Thinking skills which are crucial in education today.

Such an engaging post on Virtual Reality, I found it to be such an interesting technology to use within the classroom. I agree that VR has a lot of potential as it can be used in so many ways through all key subject areas. You make a very good point about the cost efficiency and experience VR has to offer, particularly regarding the ‘Body VR’ app. Once more research is done in this area and more appropriate apps are created, I think VR will become more evident in classroom use.

This was an interesting post Sezen! I really enjoyed reading it, you made some really good points that I agree with. It’s crazy to know that 70% of Australians play video games such a large percentage. I agree that they can be used in a creative way for the students! By having students be the designers they are given this sense of freedom and power. This, in turn, will improve students engagement in the classroom.
